My Life

Fifteen minutes of fame

Matthew Boji Bolding, 22, Brunswick

I'm a piano player, and I'm off for a rehearsal at the Astor Theatre. I'm supporting a Judy Garland impersonator for the film festival they're having. I started playing piano when I was about 8 years old, and I ended up doing a bachelor of music at Bundoora and a diploma of performance at Box Hill TAFE. It's hard to make a living as a musician. You get a professional gig once in a blue moon. The rest of the time I practise and try to find work. I've got ongoing stuff with a band called Bakehouse - we're like a jazz funk band.

``The thing that impresses me most about America is the way parents obey their children."
