New Premises Put Group On Express Lane To Success

Newcastle Herald

Tuesday September 5, 2000

RECENT relocation to bigger and better premises means Express Communications can expand its business specialising in the supply and installation of quality telecommunications equipment.

Express Communications remains a pro-active family-owned business.

It was established in 1989 by Tom and Kerry Howlett after they identified the need for an alternative, private, efficient and reliable telecommunications service.

Mr Howlett had been employed by Telstra for more than 18 years.

Over the years the company has grown from what was a home office to a new showroom/office/warehouse complex at Lambton.

Nine staff are now employed.

The move to Lambton has allowed room for a fully functioning video conferencing centre which is available for hire and demonstration.

Telephone systems on display for a hands-on experience include a hospitality package for motels and hotels, call centre applications, voice mail, cordless networks and call accounting software.

Business activities encompass the sale, installation and maintenance of both new and reconditioned equipment, telephone and data cabling, fault finding and consulting services.

Express Communications is now one of the leading suppliers of telephone systems to the Newcastle area and Hunter Region and is now the authorised dealers for Aria Communications (manufactured by LG) and Nortel PABX.

The company also maintains the full range of Telstra Commander systems, NEC, Panasonic, Siemens, Hyundai and Exicom telephone systems.

Express Communications has won the National Retailer of the Year for 2000 award from Aria/LG Digital Telephone Systems and was also named Regional Dealer of the Year in 1998 and 1999.

The company has also received a sales excellence award from Telstra FixedNet for the sale of Telstra services such as On-Ramp, Faxstream. Business Links, Priority 1300 and 1800 numbers, relocations and additional lines.

Sales of Telstra services and connections made the company Telstra Dealer of the Year (Northern) for the 1995-1996 year and they are currently the Telstra FixedNet Premium Dealer.

Mrs Howlett said Express Communications continues to enhance its product knowledge and range of products.

`That way we ensure our customers are aware of the latest in technological advancements,' Mrs Howlett said.

`We provide a comprehensive 24-hour seven-day service by Austel licensed technicians with a well maintained fleet of vehicles.

`A good telephone system is an integral part of any business today.

`Society demands we keep in touch and Express Communications can offer a total package to keep people in touch when and where they want to be.'
